A discount allows you to reduce the subscription cost for an individual customer without changing the base price.
Discounts can be applied to all subscription levels, including the products inside a subscription.
If you are applying the same discount to multiple subscriptions as your customer base grows, you may wish to create a reusable discount as a coupon (applied in one step using a coupon code). Creating a discount is the first step in creating a coupon.
To create a discount:
-
Navigate to Catalog > Discounts.
-
In the upper right corner of the page, click Add discount. The Add Discount dialog box appears.
-
Enter in details for your Discount:
-
Give your discount a name and a description. You can also give it a code, for example, "Spring20".
-
Select the discount type:
Percentage reduces the base price percentage specified. For example, a discount of 10% on a $100 item would reduce the cost by $10
Fixed amount reduces the base price by the specified amount in dollars
Fixed amount per unit reduces the cost of each unit by the amount specified; for example, if you set the fixed amount per unit to $2 and there are four units, the total discount will be $8
-
Specify when the discount should be applied: Immediately (as soon as you click Save) or after the specified number of billing periods (for X months or years)
-
Specify how long the discount should be applied: forever (the life of the subscription) or for the specified number of billing periods ((for X months or years)
-
If the discounted subscription has more than one frequency (for example, a monthly and an annual subscription), you may wish to override the type, effective date, and length of the discount for one of those frequencies. Click Add Frequency for each frequency you wish to override and enter the details.

Click Save to create your discount. The discount now appears in the list of available discounts on the Discounts page.
