How it Works
Standard
Flat rate per unit regardless of quantity. All units cost the same.
Per Unit price: $5
If a customer purchases 1 unit, they would be charged $5.
If they purchased 20 units, they would be charged $100 (20 x $5)
Tiered
While prices are still based on a per-unit basis, every unit used is assessed a cost within its own tier

If a customer purchases or consumes 8 units, they would be charged $2 per unit (8 x $2), for a total charge of $16.
If a customer purchases or consumes 17 units, they would be charged $2 per unit for the first 10 units, plus $1 per unit for the next 7 units, for a total charge of $23 (ex. (10 x $2) + (7 x $1))
Volume
Volume pricing ranges are used to determine the unit price for ALL quantities.

If a customer purchases or consumes 10 units, they would be charged $10 ( 10 x $1).
If a customer purchases or consumes 18 units, then the cost would be $16.20 (18 x $0.90).
There is no recalculation or credits for previously charged subscription fees. The new Quantity will be correctly calculated on the next charge date.
Stairstep
Multiple price brackets are defined, but the pricing is given as a total cost for the whole bracket instead of per-unit costs.

If a customer purchases or consumes between 1 - 15 units, they would be charged a flat rate of $15.
If a customer purchases or consumes between 16 - 30 units, they would be charged a flat rate of $28.
General Rules:
When using Tiered, Volume or Stairstep, there can be no overlap or gaps in quantity.
There is no limit to the number of tiers you can have.
