In Stax Bill, a Standing Order serves as a template for the automated creation of Subscriptions by the Geotab Subscription Creation job. It maps a Device Price Plan (aka Active Billing Plan) and, optionally, a Product Code from a device in Geotab MyAdmin to a Stax Bill Catalog Plan. It also allows pricing and discounts to be set for any subscription created from it.
NOTE: A Geotab device is considered active in Geotab only when it has an active Geotab Device Price Plan set in MyAdmin. The Device Price Plan must be active for Stax Bill's automation jobs to attempt to create a subscription for the device.
Creating a Standing Order
You can create a Standing Order on a customer regardless of its Geotab Linked status. You can set up all the required Standing Orders for a customer before you link it. You can also add new Standing Orders to a customer after it is linked.
- Go to Customer Overview > Subscriptions and click the Add Subscription button
- Select the Stax Bill Catalog plan you would like to serve as the base for any new subscriptions created.
- Select the appropriate Frequency.
- Toggle the Geotab Device Price Plan switch to enable the dropdown, then select the Device Price Plan value.
- Optionally, you can add one or more Product Codes.
- If you choose not to add a Product Code to the Standing Order, then all devices that match the Device Price Plan will be created with the one Standing Order.
- If you add one or more Product Codes, only those devices that match both the Device Price Plan and the Product Code will use that Standing Order.
- For example, suppose that you have 5 distinct Product Codes on devices that are under the Pro Mode Billing Plan: GO7xxxx1, GO6xxxx2, GO9xxxx3, GO9xxyy4, GO9yyzz5.
- If you would like all these devices to use the same Standing Order template, you can add each Product Code to the Standing Order's configuration.
- If the GO6 devices normally uses a different price, you can have one Standing Order dedicated to that Product Code, and the rest on a second Standing Order.
- You can also use partial code matches. If you entered GO9, for example, then devices that have Product Codes: GO9xxxx3, GO9xxyy4, GO9yyzz5, would all use the Standing Order.
NOTE: Stax Bill will always try to use the most accurate matching Standing Order. If a new Standing Order is added to a customer, and if there is an active Subscription that used a more generic Standing Order, and a more specifically matching Standing Order is then added, the Geotab automation will automatically cancel the earlier Subscription, then create a new one, using the better matching Standing Order.
Any device on MyAdmin that uses the Pro Mode Device Price Plan and the included list of Product Codes (aka Device Codes), will use this Standing Order as its template to make the new subscription. The Catalog Plan and Plan Product(s) and pricing specified will be used for the new subscription.
