Projected invoices show a preview of the customer's next invoice, given the current settings and configuration. A project invoice cannot be edited directly but reflects changes made to the customer's subscription. Any changes made to the subscription will be accounted for in the projected invoice after a brief period of time. When viewing a projected invoice, the last generated field will display when the last project invoice was calculated. Note that recent changes may not be reflected in the project invoice for a few minutes.
Examples of the changes that would trigger the recalculation of a project invoice include:
- Account-level (all project invoices)
-
- Changing tax options
- Changing Avalara options
- Bulk imports
-
- Product change
-
-
- Changing tax exemption on a catalog product
-
- Customer Level
- Address or billing change
- Cancellation/Uncancellation, suspend/resume, or hold/release
- Billing period change
- Removing a parent
- Subscription activation
- Any subscription change
- Net terms change
- Add/edit/delete tracked item
- Subscription product change/edit/delete
- Changes to invoice display options either at the account or customer level
Also, when the Stax Bill system processes the current billing cycle for this customer, the next projected invoice will automatically be created.
Projected invoices allow you to review what customers will be charged in the coming months. It can also be sent out to the customer in advance.
Tip: There are some circumstances under which multiple projected invoices may be generated for the same subscription, for example, if you have a scheduled subscription start date or a scheduled product start date. In this scenario, there will be two projected invoices, one for the charges that will occur at subscription activation and one for those which will occur at the start of the next renewal billing period.
Note: Updates to these settings may not be immediately reflected in the projected invoice; the update happens as a background process and may take several minutes to complete.
Tip: You can customize the look of your Projected Invoice using the Projected Invoices tab under Invoice Settings.
