Purchase a product configured as a deposit.
This charges the customer for the deposit amount but holds it as deferred revenue and does not earn it.
When the customer's lifecycle ends or the deposit expires in some way:
- Reverse the originally deposited amount. This returns the associated paid funds to the account for use elsewhere.
After reversing the charge, either:
- Allocate the resulting available funds to an additional expense such as a purchase on the customer's account.
OR
- Refund or otherwise send the available funds back to the customer. It is worth noting that most customers will likely outlive the usual refund window of about 60 days for a credit card. The actual refund will likely need to take place outside of Stax Bill.
