Automated collection and allocation in Stax Bill takes place against balances and credits on deposit in the customer's account, and then against the default payment method stored on the customer, using the configured account gateway's routing rules.
When collecting from the default payment method on the customer's account, it does not try, attempt, or fall back or swap to another payment method on file. It does not try, attempt, or fall back to another gateway configured in the account.
If an invoice is overdue, and there is a balance on deposit, then Stax Bill will automatically allocate the balance to that invoice regardless of settings.
Automatic collection can be enabled at the account level as the default, or on a customer level to override that default.
When automatic collection is enabled, Stax Bill will:
- When an invoice "Ages" after midnight of its due date
- Allocate credits and funds on deposit to the aging invoice
- If any balances are left outstanding on the invoice, it will attempt to collect funds from the customer's default payment method
- Any follow-up communciations relating either the overdue invoice, or payments received, depending on what has been configured.
